Ram Pumps

04/28/2012 4:22 PM

does anyone have any practical knowlege using a ram pump? i have a a fresh water spring running though my property that i would like to use to pump water to a cistern. sorry, i can only give you a questiment on flow rates and vertical head distances.

flow rate is approximently 50-100 gpm

drop is 7 feet over 100 feet of length.

head to cistern is approximately 25 feet.

i have flow charts and plans for a pvc pump, but they look like some school kid did them as a project. i need advice on how build and size the pump and the best materials to use. ram pump plans would be a plus.

It sounds as though you already have the Clemson design:

That is so very kewl! Thanks!!!!

Has anyone out there built one of these Ram pumps yet? IF yes, how has it performed?

I can imagine this becoming a real life saver in the event that the Grid goes down for a period of time....

Any number of pumps will do this job. For example http://www.submersible-pumpshop.co.uk/ (usual disclaimer).
