I am looking to fit a Rev limiter to a Euro 3 Diesel vehicle. Has any one made this conversion before & if so who's manufacture kit did you use, & at what cost.
Your looking for a governor. The engine may have one on it. Just needs to be adjust to limit the rpm you want. Or the engine manufacture may have one check with them.

A Euro 3 Engine has a Red Line of 3,800 RPM if you go over that for long enough & many times you will run the bearings out. Most engines come nto us with a RPM reading of 4,800 - 5,600 & of course run out bearings or seized.
You might be able to install a needle valve in the fuel supply line, or a valve and line to divert additional fuel back to the tank.
There are aftermarket controllers for American made pick up owners with diesels. Try Banks, Diablo, and Bully Dog. Their sites might be able to help you.
You might be able to take the engine speed signal and alter it to make the ECM think it is at a higher speed than it is at.
But, I still think the engine manufacturer has your answer. If they want a max of 3,800, and it is running at 4,000 or more, it must be repairable. How do they control the engine speed when it is used on a gen. set?
You have not mentioned a specific engine manufacturer or engine model except for the mention of an ecm. I will not say absolutely all but I will say nearly all engines made today are designed to be as versatile as possible. Therefore within the ecm. a RPM gouverner is likely to be avalible. A call to the distributer you are using asking for a engine programer and the access codes is likely to be your easyest and most efective option.
