during the reaming of a hole in a job (suppose a cylinder block) how is that the reaming tool that reams the drilled hole (having smaller diameter) to increase it's diameter....??

The reamer has cutting surfaces, they're just very small and don't remove much material.

The infeed end of the reamer is tapered so that it can fit into the hole to get started.

the hole has to be re-drilled to a diameter a few .oooths less than the reamer diameter.
