Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger

Have you ever heard of a design for a baffle cuts more than 50%?

Can this be considered as a segmental type heat exchanger?

You mean more than 50% of the cross-sectional area of the HX?.

This one has baffles with an area more than 50% of the cross-sectional area of the HX:

Having more than 50% increases efficiency - up to a point.

baffle cut meaning the %cut from the total cross sectional area. This one does not look like that..

Baffle cut is the ratio of baffle window height to the shell inside diameter.

In this publication, look at heading number 1.2.4.7 (baffles). It should clear things up for you.

This was found very quickly by typing baffle cut in Google.

Are you having trouble searching the internet?

Here is some help:

Sir, I don't know what you mean. It is exactly what I said.

Section 1.4.2.7 of wolverine heat transfer data book (which i have read more than four times in the last four years) says "For liquid flows on the shell side, a baffle cut of 20 to 25% of the diameter is common; for low pressure gas flows, 40 to 50% (i.e. close to the maximum allowable cut) is more common, in order to minimize pressure drop"

Now, ignoring you patronizing comments, let us go back to question at hand. Have you ever seen a 75% baffle cut design?

The picture you showed earlier was not 75%.

Thanks. And Lets stay civil.
