When is CR 4 Going to Upgrade...

I haven't had reason to consider the server hardware and connection at CR4...prior to your comment.

So until now, the speed has been well within the realm of acceptable. Verifying with some page loads, any delay is barely perceptible.

Maybe it isn't n CR4's end....how is your connection?...and your processor speed?....have you checked your tire pressure recently?

My home machine is a core i7, with 8 gigs of memory and a terabyte of hard disk. From CR 4's home page, it usually takes several minutes (yes, minutes) to open my email.

Any other place I go on the internet is fast and fine.

Works fine - except my mailbox. Perhaps I should delete some of the old ones, but I'm just too retentive.

Most people seem to rate Chrome for speed. It'd also be better not to use a phone. I think it's your end of the string telephone, verm.

I have no problems with it at all. The pages change almost instantaneously. Any faster and the new pages would be popping up before I clicked on them -- like: http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/78071#comment853848 .

I've only had problems with the mental speed of some of the posters.

I believe what we have here.....................is another CR4 member with too much time on their hands.

It's like being frustrated that it takes 6 bites to eat your sandwich, and telling your wife to make the sandwich so you can eat it in 2.

My wife will be happy to tell you that all time spent on CR4, is wasted time. The number of seconds between clicks is irrelevant.

If you meant features, we're working on some "stuff", If you mean servers, Im pretty sure we're alright on our end. If I were you, I'd check my broadband connection through something like speedtest.net to make your tubes aren't clogged

I have a dedicated 15 Mb line, unlimited. And CR 4 is the only place I experience such behavior. 2 minutes to get to email, then half the time I get an error message saying something about a server error. If I click "refresh" on the screen, then my mail comes up in about 30 seconds.

Are you using IE? That will gum up everything.

I've probably posted this 20 times on here, and I'll do it again. Give this a try......................even if you just use it for CR4. That's what I did, due to the problems with chrome. Now it's all I use. It's been about 3 years now.

{edit}- I'd be willing to bet, that if vermin did a quick cleanup of his hard drive and registry, and installed that browser, he'd find that CR4 doesn't have any speed problems.

It's like a custom fit for CR4....................it just happens to work well for everything else too.

Another thing I like about it, is that the spell checker works in CR4, FB, and everywhere else. At least when I'm out here talking stupid, my spelling is correct.

Presuming you are not putting your handset into a cradle try this

Go into your browser and clear:

Cookies, temp files, cache, etc

these directories are only allowed so much space, so when full they go int standard Windows page swap on and off the hard drive, etc

A quick way to clear your cache and cookies is getting CCleaner. You can get it for free off of CNET and does a good job of getting rid of little bits of data that start to clog up the works

CCleaner is ok, but I prefer SpeedyPCPro myself.....and it's not free either.

IOBIT have a nice freebie called Advance System Care. The real paranoid can get an add-on for Firefox that delete's LSO's (whatever the heck they are, they sound intrusive).

I suspect verm is yanking the chain a little (if he doesn't know about cache and cookies, I'll eat my underpants), though I understand the PM loading issue. It must take you guys a while to vet his messages first .

Well, it goes without saying that I have a problem. I've never denied that. But the version of CR 4 I get here in the Northern Hemisphere is pretty shaky.

A click on "refresh" usually brings up the email.

I have noticed that it takes a little while to load a post to a thread. It's not something I've ever thought or cared about.

I've never got error messages, unless I talk too much and get locked out.

Did you try the browser that I linked?

Try to send too many messages in one day, or even flush you mailbox. You will get the 'you, or somebody else...' message. Part of CR4's anti-spamming. As websites go, CR4 are very hot on that. Best not elaborate on my observation, but I think they are pretty clued up as to who is ding what. Glitches in loading speed are probably part of site security. Try delete old PM's en masse and you will see. It's automated, not personal, and for the benefit of all. No ned to panic - you will get back in (presuming no wrong doing) within a short space of time.

I guess I got very blabber mouth over the weekend. Hit my post limit and got locked out twice.

If you hit the cap with legitimate posts, we'd be more than happy to increase your limits, just let us know :)

My broadband speed is pathetic by western standards, less than 2 Mbps.

My computer is quite ancient, the first ever dual core perhaps, 2GB ram.

And CR4 comes up in milliseconds !

As do Google, YouTube and several such. Many Indian pages take a perceptible delay as their servers are slower.
