Will your next question be about plug welding or projection welding?

Not surprisingly it depends on the application, the machinery, the thickness, the material (steel, plastic, stainless steel, etc) and how much time is spent positioning the materials to be welded. Also, to a lesser extent, how good the welder is.

Without more information we cannot even offer a guess.

Taking your question literally, the number of spots would be 0, as you cannot take spots, only make them.

for cost estimating purposes, a human spot welder could do probably 500-600 per hour, a robot much faster

when we spot welded beryllium copper in a clean room aerospace lab we could only do 10 - 20 or so per hour, but in a aluminum or steel commercial production environment probably hundreds per hour.

One spot on the payroll list. And if he don't start turning out more spots, his spot will be gone!
