Contactor Frame Sizes

05/21/2012 2:57 PM

My Siemens 3RT contactors have frame sizes S00,S2,S3. what do these figures mean? Do they denote the same thing as NEMA frame sizes from 00 to 9. But i think no because Siemens does not follow NEMA . I found nothing in the supplied catalog regarding the meaning of various frame sizes.

Have a look on the Siemens website for more detailed information as you may just have a short-form catalog.

It says the siemens sizes fall in between NEMA sizes...Are you only concerned with the physical size measurements? What exactly do you need to know?

S2-S3=S(2-3)=-S

Now that's an interesting Laplace transform. Doing a reverse Laplace transform one gets:

-S↔-δ'(t)

This is the negative unit doublet function.

Could you give me a 3-D representation in Cartesian space?

Sorry I can't because this is just a two dimensional function.

No, they only have to do with Siemens' sizing, no relation to NEMA nor to even any other mfr of IEC contactors.

Siemens likes to BELIEVE they are the kings of the electrical world and act like it sometimes, but they are no better than anyone else.

It just how Siemens represents the different physical frame sizes and what accessories will work with it. Some items such as aux. contactors are somewhat universal across the 3RT line but other such as the link between MSP and contactor are very specific and frame size is how you select them.
