Without more information we can only guess what 'BOP' stands for when referenced to recruitment.

Can you provide more information?

Balance Of Plant. Meaning support infrastructure, not main production equipment.

You know a thermal power plant's main equipment are the Boiler, Turbine & Generator or BTG for short. But, only with the above three you cannot operate a thermal power plant. You will need Coal Handling Plant, Ash Handling Plant, Water Treatment Plant, the Switchyard and the like. The above sub-systems together are called Balance of Plant or BOP. An electrical engineer has got a very good scope of work in all the above areas of BOP. Good luck to you!
