IEEE Bus Voltage

06/02/2012 1:12 PM

I need the data for IEEE 57 bus standard test system for power network. The bus voltages must be in Kilovolts rather than those in per unit.In the power system test case archive only per unit bus voltages are available and the base voltages for non of the buses are specified.

Sir,From the above said page only the per unit bus voltages can be got. Instead of voltage ratings V1,V2,V3,V4,V5,V6,V7 is mentioned.I want to know the values of V1 to V7

That's because your question makes no sense, and thus no good answers can be given. Post 8 made matters even worse.

http://www.ee.washington.edu/research/pstca/pf30/ieee30cdf.txt

In the above link u can see the third column showing 132KV,33KV etc in voltages

http://www.ee.washington.edu/research/pstca/pf57/ieee57cdf.txt

In this link the third column is in V1 to V7 .

anybody knows the voltage rating for that in KV ,as in 30bus system

The wording of the OP is not very understandable.
"Per unit" = per what unit?

I just finished doing a little exploring (pun intended) on the IEEE 57 bus standard test using Google, the IEEE explore search engine to just examine titles and the variety of pages at the Washington university archive linked earlier. (Oh, doing your own research for personal amusement is a hallmark of good engineering. IMHO) It appears that the IEEE 57 bus test was a test and analysis of a Midwest US power grid in the early 1960's. (Maybe the test was conceived in 57.) The result and analysis of this test was apparently pivotal in setting several standards in power line distribution testing.

The urgent desire to know the raw data of this approximately fifty year old test does beg the question, why? Why does anyone "need" to see the raw data of this old test and get their answer from a free engineer's blog? A qualified electrical engineer working for a firm authorized to work on large scale power grids will easily be able to get access to IEEE standards.

I am doing my thesis work on generator rescheduling for congestion management and I need to check the robustness of the method I found on the IEEE 57 bus system in which the generator buses are not very close. I am doing check on IEEE 118 bus system also and for that the data is with me. I am doing the simulation in PSAT tool of matalab , which requires the base voltages for each bus.

Then you should be able to get any IEEE documentation through your school library system. This is part of what you're tuition payments are supposed to cover. Contact your library staff.

It seems that the last time this site was updated was 1993(!) but OP might try contacting University of Washington EE Dept and see if the original archiver or his descendants has continued the work...

http://www.ee.washington.edu/research/pstca/pg_tcaintro.htm

It is odd to see the list of voltages without their corresponding per unit value, perhaps a thorough search of the UW site will yield some more clues. Although the data is no longer relevant, it is a good research study for a student interested in how power systems behave. I used to get my results by waiting 6 to 10 hours at the local IBM and GE time-sharing centers; that is when I wasn't doing my own studies on our Westinghouse Network Analyzer.
