Burning of resistance bank in which stage?

1. While starting the motor ? - Motor may stall

2. While starting the motor, in half way, when speed is picked up half way? Motor may pick up the speed

3. During normal running ? Something to check the starter connections & contactor condition.

I experienced one stage missing in rotor resistance starter of a slip ring motor. At this stage/ step , the motor decelerate - speed goes down - then when we cut down the resistance again, makes the ampere goes up. This makes the circuit trips.

But as you mentioned , if it is completely burned out. You can not start the motor at all.

It gets locked out of use, and then it has its burnt components replaced.

To prevent recurrence, something else needs to happen.
