Underground Lines Around Pipe Rack

06/18/2012 8:09 AM

While routing the underground lines along the piperack which one is best option :

1. Lines should be routed parallel (on one side) to the piperack (i.e. more space is required)

2. Lines should be routed under the piperack (i.e. space can be saved)

Always or almost always, are installed parallel to the pipe rack. In the case of fire water lines on both sides. Anyway, you can get some data in ASTM-2321-11 and API 1166. I do not think you get much more. Sorry.

I'm not sure any Code governs this, but consult your local regulations.

If the pipes are hot, electrical lines above might also overheat.

If the pipes are cold or leaky, electrical lines below might get wet.

Other than that, convenience might be the best guide.

In all of these cases so far, the lines are parallel....
