Test Vehicle

06/23/2012 8:35 AM

On the drive home from work the other day I saw a Small Chevy (I think Cruze) with a small note on the bumper.

NGD2 test vehicle #328. I Did not see an exhaust tail pipe on the car. I live in the St. Louis area and it had normal car license plates. Not any special kind of distinctive lic. plates. Not sure if it was coming from it or not but smelled a ozone like smell while following it.

Chevy testing out a new electric vehicle & power source? Other elect. cars around here do not have ozone smell?

Chevy just issued a recall of 413,000 cars of that model.

Maybe you smelled the indignation of a recalled car.

Natural Gas Demonstration 2...I think this is one of those test vehicles they use to do a feasibility study on conversion to CNG... Here is one for trucks...

What you smelled was the natural gas residue in the exhaust. The tail pipe might be recessed is all. The Chevy Cruze is sold here in Italy with factory fitted LPG and gasoline - dual fuel. It's about time that either this or NG is used in the States for domestic vehicles. Here LPG has been available for over 20 years for autos, small trucks, etc.. I save 50% every time I fill up my LPG Ford and that ain't hay.
