Motor Pump Amperage

good day..

I have a 2HP(1.5kw),220volts, 60Hz 3450rpm, single phase electric motor. I want to know What is the rated ampacity of this motor? please give me the exact formulation for this matter. Thank you,

The exact formula is meaningless, it is only slightly better than a SWAG* because no two motors are going to have the EXACT same resistance in the windings, magnetic reluctance in the steel, friction in the bearings, wind resistance in the cooling fans etc. etc. If you are wanting REAL data, read it from the nameplate, it is empirical (meaning it is derived from real world test data by the manufacturer).

*SWAG = Scientific Wild Ass Guess...

P = V x I

So P/V = I

But this will only give you the current at unity power-factor

The actual current is going to be greater than 6.8 amps and probably less than 8.5 amps
