VGA Connector for HP Proliant G6 Series Server

07/05/2012 11:11 AM

Dear All,

We are using HP Proliant G6 Series Server. It is commissioned two days ago. Yesterday when we put it into network. Its display vanished. We used another screen locally connected but in vain. Is there any solution that we can see its display without getting it out of the network. It is working as drives server and machine is running. We want its display back without any downtime on machine.

So, apart from the lack of display the server is working fine?

Two things, either a bad cable or a bad VGA card.

You said you tried another monitor and it did the same thing ie nothing. did you try a new cable as well?

You can open up the server to check if the VGA card is properly seated and connected while it is still running.

You haven't got a power saving feature turned on or anything like that have you?

Dear All,

Thanx for valuable suggestions. I have talked to our IT Manager he said that in any case we have to restart the server. Kindly help that server should not be started.

You want help but you aren't responding to requests for clarification.

OP may need to attach a monitor to the server in order to setup the remote access facility first.

Chicken and egg thing here....

OP, have you confirmed already that the cable is not your problem. I know it's basic and you may have already done that BUT you haven't bothered to share that.

You don't have a KVM switch in there do you?

Is there an HDMI port on the video card that you could try?
