Dear All,

I'm a 4'th year electrical engineering student, and I'm preparing for my graduation project which is about " Charging laptop battery using solar energy ",so I need some help about ideas that may help me in designing issues, circuits, & more information about this project.

Thanks & Regards.

Hardly seems like a project worthy of a 4th year, but here's a starting point...

We don't do your homework. If you have specific questions about design issues, or want to run design ideas past us feel free. There are numerous solar laptop chargers on the market. Perhaps you can research those and see what improvements you might make.

4th year electrical engineering student? I have an AA in electronics. I could do this in my sleep. R u serious? My instructor was an electrical engineer with a 4-year degree. I think he could do it blindfolded. I'd ask for my money back on that education.

Just plug your laptop charger into a solar powered source. Done.

4th year electrical engineering? I'm guessing that there are a lot of honours students coming out of your place of learning.

Lower the bar and increase the prestige...."Our University has the highest ratio of honour student graduates in the world"!

I can't wait to meet you at work. Really, I can't. I have just the job for you.

Seriously , can't you think of anything more challenging or perhaps making the project a little more scholarly by exploring a nuance of the design or something or anything? Did you choose the project theme or was it assigned to you?

I am sorry, If you in fact are seriously asking for this help, being a 4rd year into electrical engineering, then I suggest you are much better of changing carrer path. No offense!!! Rafael L. Lama

Okay, i really know that it is a simple issue for yo to do something like that but for someone who is already educated in the " third world " with and just trying to prepare for his first project - not because he is a loser but because it is always done like that in his university - , maybe you find it so painful to hear something like that but for sure if you see this education system - which we are dying because of it every single day - I'm sure that you will change your opinion and know why i am asking such " stupid " question .

anyway, i wasn't really asking for a homework solver, i just want to know if you have some circuit to study there advantages & disadvantages too because I've already studied four different designs and I'm looking for creating or improving one of them.

"... just trying to prepare for his first project ..."

Wait, you claim to be in the fourth year of an engineering degree program, and this is your first project???

Sorry if the comments thus far seem mean-spirited, but a solar powered charger really is 1st year level work. If you are seriously interested in an engineering career, then I hope you can find a good mentor and an apprenticeship program, because it sounds like your school has terribly under-prepared you for the real world.

A good place to start is to have a look at the existing solar recharging products on the market and see if you can improve on them.

Alternatively make your solar charger out of readily available/inexpensive/recycled parts that someone could easily assemble to keep the costs down. It won't be as good or as complete as an existing commercial model, but is that the point of your project?

What about modifying an existing mass-produced and locally commonly found product (a solar lamp perhaps) and turning it into an inexpensive solar charger?

Now THAT'S a 4th year project!

Just giving a heads up. At night you can plug in a light from a wall outlet and charge up your system.

Fourth year project, are you serious?????????
