So, someone is making gas turbines and doesn't have a standard inspection plan - something that can be cloned from previous equipment inspection plans? Wow!

I hate to tell you this, but most of the information your asking for is proprietary and will not be disclosed at any cost. When you develope a gas turbine engine (If you actually are) you should have already spent research time in this area of Quality. My suggestion to you is; if this is the way you do business (Engineering) I strongly suggest you find a different project. This is not for you.

Hi,

there are lots of inspections and tests plans for gas turbine construction, some purchaser require stringent inspection and even assign resident inspector in gas turbine manufacture shop, some other only require witness of some important test and rely to quality control of manufacture. But, most clients require following inspection and test to be witnessed by their third party inspection agencies or their own designated inspector:

  • Casing raw material identification with material certificates (foundry test)
  • Hydrostatic testing on Gas Turbine casings, Combustion chamber, Fuel systems and Auxiliary pressure vessels
  • Gas turbine rotor Dynamic balance test
  • Gas turbine rotor overspeed test
  • Gas turbine mechanical running test
  • Gas turbine performance test (if specified, this test is not mandatory based API 616)
  • Gas turbine final dimensional and visual inspection
  • Packing, marking and loading inspection

There is good article about this, you may review

In order to actually discover "what your inspection requirements will be" will depend on the nature of your industry. For the US it's FAR regulations. It "Will" be different according to it's usage. Example: Cargo, Passenger, Military, Static Energy Industry and other applications. Passenger application will naturally be "More" than that of Static Energy applications of "Less" Choose your industry and then make your preparations to set up production. Who knows perhaps you'll run into another knucklehead who's willing to commit treason and give away trade secrets.
