Impact Testing Requirements

Hi Everyone,

I have a question regarding impact testing requirement in Fig. 323. 2.2b of ASME B31.3.

I do not exactly understand about minimum pipe wall thickeness mentioned in General Notes: (a).

Specifically speaking, to calculate the minimum pipe wall thickness I wonder if both mill tolerance and allowances are substracted from nominal pipe wall thickness or allowances only.

I would really appreciate replying from any of you experienced.

I think the minimum wall thickness is equal to the nominal wall thickness minus tolerance. Allowance may include corrosion allowance.

That would be called stacking tolerances, that is not allowed.
