Soaking Wood with Sulphuric Acid Before Pyrolosis

07/29/2012 9:37 PM

I have read that the amount of furans increase in the pyrolosis of wood if the wood is soaked in sulphuric acid first. What I am wondering is how much time and at what temperature?

what you are trying to accomplish is the break or release the bond of the oils.

The question you have to ask is what are you trying to accomplish? Bio-mass, - Liquid smoke?

What I am wondering is how much time and at what temperature?

This is usually determined from empirical information derived from data collections, to help determine your yields and what are you pulling from the pyrolysis, which.....

also depends what type of process you have Slope or Fast Pyrolysis.

Hi Phoenix. The objective was to create fuel from pyrolosis of wood.

I thought furans were bad actors in the chemical game. They are used in the same breath as dioxins when talking about transformer oil. Cancer causing and all that.

You sure you aren't doing homework for some shifty-eyed guys?
