Unwanted File

08/14/2012 12:23 PM

This keeps popping up when first booting up. I've tried everything to get rid of it, but it won't go away. It appears to be an exe file, so I don't want to open it.

Panda PDF Converter, according to the image file name (and if you squint really hard). A PDF Converter sounds innocent, but may not be. Either way you want it gone, so here's what you can do (this is off memory using XP, so everything may not be exact):

Go to Start > Run > type 'msconfig' without the quotes > Enter

Go to the Start Up (? I think) tab and find anything related to Panda, PDF Converter, etc. Uncheck anything you find. While you're at it, uncheck anything there that you don't feel necessary to start when Windows starts.

Restart. Run a antivirus and malware check. If you don't have any, I recommend AVG or Avast!, superantispyware, and malwarebytes. After doing all that, and you still get this notification, let us know.

If it's installed, it's a program....Just go in programs and uninstall it....It's for converting files to PDF file format and it's freeware...

It doesn't look like it's installed because the prompt asking him if it's ok to run the exe (probably the installation package) keeps coming up.

Then it should be in temp files....You could go into accessories, tools, disk cleanup...probably could just pull the plug and replug, boot, I think that dumps temp files....or you could go into temp file folder and delete...or you could install it then uninstall....

Yeah, this is the best solution.

Here's a way to clear the temp folder manually if you need to.
