As many have already posted, methods of reversing motor direction depends on the specific type of motor. Some A.C. motors can't be reversed -- such as the single-phase shaded-pole motors used in common house fans. (Reversible shaded-pole motors do exist, but they are specifically designed with special features to permit rotation reversal.)

The rotation can be reversed by mechanical means, if the end caps are interchangeable. Simply reassemble with the shaft out the opposite end; the rotation will stay the same, when the shaft is reversed, and run in the other direction. I have used this method with air-conditioning fan motors when the correct rotation was not available.
