Iam qualifying welder as per ASME Sec-XI, Tensile test piece was broken inside weld.Is it acceptable.
Please clarify my doubt

As long as the tensile strength obtained in the test satisfies the min. requirement as per material specs. for the base material one can accept. But in general the failure occurs outside the weld material.

You must also check for bend test failures if any which will reveal defects in weld metal. The test piece for Procedure qualification should not have any unacceptable defects in weld metal confirmed by radiography / bend tests.
