Is it important to use harmonic filter where ever the possibility

of harmonic generation?

what is the formula to calculate harmonic distortion?

W(d)= W(fz) for the odd values of z from 0 to ∞

It is important to use harmonic filter wherever there is a possibility of harmonic "penetration" . There are many cases even when there were not any harmonic generating loads within the premises, the system has imported harmonics from the grid.

And... the formula for calculating harmonic distortion is given very clearly in IEEE 519.
