Risk Based Inspection for Pressure Vessel

09/02/2012 11:07 PM

Hi Guys,

I'm looking into the possiblity of extending the internal inspection frequency of one of our pressure vessel and I consulted API580 and trying to develop a methodlogy, the concerning thing is, this vessel in Refractory lined (So we can't do any thickness testing) and slurry contains H2S gas and traces of acid. The operating pressure is 2bar and 95 Deg C. Any suggestions or ideas if have came across such situation? WHats the best starting point?

Thanks

you may try thermography, it is getting very popular in India these days, however i am not sure if it is mentioned in any of the Indian codes

there are several agencies that can do this for you. some of the insurance companies in India also do this for their clients

you may check your local codes for this

Discuss the matter with the Engineer/Surveyor for the company that is supplying burst liability indemnity insurance cover for the vessel. Today. This morning. Right now.
