By "herm" I assume you mean a hermetically sealed compressor. A hard start capacitor has more capacitance than the original and is usually used to give an extra "kick" to the compressor when the line voltage is lower than usual. Sometimes it's part of a "hard-start kit".

Maybe Herm is difficult to get out of bed and get him up and going for the day?

Care to define the word more specifically than this.. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Herm so we know what you are talking about?

According to this, it has no definition:

herm

75 up, 40 down

can mean anything you want. it is a verb (herming), adjective (herm, hermy), noun (herm, hermer). can be used to describe anything in any way. it can be either positive or negative.

A start capacitor is a good idea to have on any compressor, as it reduces the amperage spike on starting....and required for systems with TX valves because of the necessity to start sometimes against an unequalized refrigerant circuit....

Tell me why you could not search for the answer?

Hard-Start Capacitors

Do you need special attention?

Do you just want to exercise the forum?

As I have said before, the only "ass" here is you!
