Effective Grounding

09/15/2012 5:51 AM

Dear All,

If we have effective grounding system (solidly), the factor voltage for capacitor voltage transformer must be 1.5/30S. The question is (if we use voltage factor 1.5/1.9 instead of 1.5/30S, will that be effective?) & what do we mean by values (1.5/30S --- 1.9/30S --- 1.9/8 hours)

Please I need to answer very

Thanks for all

First of all your specifications are incorrect. If the system is solidly earthed, then the voltage factor for a voltage transformer conencted in Star is 1.2 Continuous & 1.5 for 30 seconds.

If the system is impedance earthed with automatic tripping arrangement for the first earth fault, then this is 1.2 continuous & 1.9 for 30 seconds.

If the system is impedance earthed but with no interruption for the first earth fault, then the VT overvoltage factor is 1.2 continuous & 1.9 for 8 hours.
