Hi,

Can anyone recommend good electronic components news publications? Electronic if possible. To stay on top of electronics news?

Thanks very much,

Emer

EDN - Electronics Design News is a good publication for components and design ideas.

How's about a digi-key catalogue to keep up on the components that are new.I usually find it good reading when everything else doesn't appeal to me any longer. Duke

It also depends on where you are in the world and what speciality you are after.

In the UK there are many publications, some specialise in micro's others in MEMs, rf and microwaves, a few in analogue and a lot more in general passives etc...

Try searching the internet for example, as most publications are now switching over to digital only format.

Emer, an adequate answer of your question depends on your information where you stay - are you hobbyist, student or professional, are you developer or manufacturer ?

Are you more interested in applications or in data sheets ?

Are you involved in audio, radio, computer, measurement applications or in power electronics ?

Each of these themes has its own publication on different levels - the more you tell us about your imaginations the more precise we can tell you what you`re looking for.

Regards Uwe

Thanks friend, I'm in Canada. I'm learning this now as a personal effort. I need to get on top of the latest electronic developments, many books aren't quick to update, mainly interested in components and circuitry. But I want to go into repair which is why I was looking for older databooks. Looks like everything is datasheets now. I wish I could get ahold of a mass quanity of datasheets for cheap.

Machine Design is an excellent publication that not only provides technical data and news but also application examples along with a "ton" of vendor sources.

Some of the ones that I follow are from a previous life (data centers). They are from industry leading vendors. 1) Emerson Network Power 2) APC by Schneider 3) Liebert Also, I follow NFPA Journal to see what happening in the codes and standards world. Specifically, I know of 2 that work well with electronics. 1) FedTech which deals with federal government information tech. 2) Wired magazine. They have a nook/tablet subscription (no online yet).

I have to recommend "Nuts and Volts" last of the hobby electronics magazines published in the USA.
