"Girl Saved From Drowning by Computer"

09/02/2005 9:52 AM

This short article and video says it all.
The video is a bit haunting, but the girl made a full recovery. It's very interesting to see how video systems, sensors, switches, relays and alarms go into saving precious seconds when saving someone's life.
I can only imagine what's next.

Cost prohibitive?

Unfortunately, I don't think many public or private pools have a $100,000 budget for this type of technology.

Everywhere

The U.K. seems to have cameras just about everywhere - in pools, in the tube, etc. I wonder if the British worry as much about their right to privacy as we Americans do. Certainly, British video cameras have done lots of good lately.
