It's not a roof problem, it's a floor problem - the floor is not low enough. Cut a hole in the floor, may have to dig a hole. Shouldn't be a problem, you're not moving anyhow.

Going in reverse might have been the problem, though it's hard to tell if the vehicle reached the bottom of a hill and was going up another. Regenerative braking has it's drawbacks.

Clearly, this whole accident could've been prevented if you were wearing your seatbelt. Clearly.
