Something better than tungsten

Hello,

I need a metal for an electrode that is nearly not corroding. It has to work under hight temperatures, under water and that is not good for something that is corroding easily. tungsten is not strong enough, after 1 hour the rod was gone.I I heard that palladium is good, but I have not enough money for things like palladium or something like that. Can someone help me?

What is this doing and under water fresh or saline? What sort of power Voltage Current? In other words what is the application of the electrode?

It is salt water an 220 volt the tungsten is glowing under water.

If the electrode is being used in an electrode boiler then contact the original equipment manufacturer for advice and spare parts.

You may want to experiment with stainless steel. However, if electrolysis is going on, the only thing I know that won't be dissolved by the reaction is one of the platinum metals.

Tungsten oxidises far too easily at high temperatures. Try Nichrome, the chrome content forms a strong oxide layer and prevents further oxidation.

It looks like it is being stripped rather than corroded.

What is the function of your operation?

Are you using 220 Volt AC or DC??

Why are you using tungsten? Are you welding something? Generating hydrogen? Carbon electrodes work just fine under water, last a long time, and are cheap to replace.
