Microsoft Outlook 2007

10/17/2012 2:45 AM

Hello experts,

I was using outlook2003 in windowsXP OS, there i was able to select the different mails in my inbox with ctrl+space+arrow up/down but now i shifted to windows7 with microsoft outlook2007.

then this ctrl+space+arrow up/down key is not working to select different mails.

could you please tell me is there any alternative keyboard shortcuts?

Thanks in advance

I'm using Outlook 2010 and I can select multiple messages by holding the CTRL key, using the arrows to navigate up or down, and hitting the space bar on messages that I want to select.

According to this Outlook 2007 shortcut guide, it's not an option in that version. If you click on the tab under the 2010 version it is listed.

One of the reasons I HATE software "improvements" is that they aren't.

They are just re-hashes of existing stuff with the features we all used in the last version hidden so that you have to search to find the same features that the "old" version had.

This was especially maddening when I went from the 2003 version to 2010 version.

It was no better, but twice as difficult to use.

Amen to that, Brother. I have the "delight" of moving to 2010 at work coming sometime over the next few months. Great. I'm going to lose more of my screen to that blasted ribbon thing which nevers seems to have the menu items I really want. I'll bet sixpence I can't customise it the way I have all previous versions.

But it's ok! We're getting a day's "training" on how to use it from an external expert. Joy.

I went from office 2002 to 2010. I liked the changes. It took me a few days to get up to speed.

In any new software there is a learning curve and the help function in 2010 is really good and hits about 95% of my needs. I still have an Excel problem that I have never been able to get fixed in any Office version, for which I use Open Office.....both are on my PC.

In 2010, you can make the ribbons disappear (I do) and only appear when needed by clicking on the headings. You can also "tailor" them to your needs.....I tend to add more functions....

I feel that 2010 is the best that MS has made up to now. I have also had Office 97, so 2010 is my official third version...

You can use CTRL + F1 to toggle the ribbon on or off.

That's just what I needed to know!

I spent about 1/2 hour the other day pounding the help function & on-line help/forums to find out how to insert the Yen symbol - all I got from MS was instructions on using the Symbol dialogue or how to insert unicode. Gahhh! I know how to do that, but the Yen symbol is not there and they didn't list the unicode for it. Eventually found a users forum that gave the code as Alt+0165. ¥

Incidently, the MS instructions to type in the code, then hit Alt+Shift just turn 0165 into "t" Can't even get their own instruction right!

I left increasingly terse comments in the feedback sections....

When i first migrated from MS Office 2003 to MS Office 2007, i relied on the interactive guides provided by MS... try this one...

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/interactive-outlook-2003-to-outlook-2007-command-reference-guide-HA010222162.aspx

You can download the guides for Access, Excel, Powerpoint and Word too...
