10/28/2012 1:39 PM

Hi frnds, I am basically Electrical engineer, now I am working in a system(on a vessel),where we must know how all the mechanical systems work/functions,so that by understanding that system we really can visualise the importance of control switch/transmitter. so,please tell me each block/part and its function, highlighting the very specific parts. The systems like 1.Main engines(4500Kw) 2.Auxiliary engine(450Kw) 3.Seperators 4.Boiler 5.Sewage treatment plant 6.gearbox(hydraulic clutching and other pneumatic clutching) 7.Controllable pitch propeller 8.Cooling system 9.Hydraulic system 10.Pneumatic System 11.Bridge equipments and their functions 12.Firefighting system and 13.water mist system ....etc Since I am basically electrical I can understand better,if you have any specific important points to share, please share without hesitation. Hope you will send, Thanking you, Your frndly, Joganand

Do you have a few weeks?

You can't expect someone here to go through the mechanical systems on this mystery ship.

You'll need to learn these as you go.

Find out who makes these systems and get the manuals for all of them. Study them!

Going to sea with an inexperienced engineer on any vessel is a good way to meet Davey Jones in Person. What company operating any vessel would ask this of someone? I surely would not want to be on the learn as you go plan for this one. Can't make too many mistakes when your in heavy seas and taking on water.

Good luck and always work above the water line.

A company that appoints an individual to do effective work without training and without providing systems where documentation is controlled and filed usefully deserves to go out of business.
