Restraint Symbol in Ceaser II for U-Bolt Pipe Shoe

11/02/2012 12:30 AM

Any suggestion on how to represent the restraint for piping on pipe shoe with u bolt clamped on the pipe. I use + Y, -Y, +x,-X ( arrow in 4 directions ) assuming the Z direction is aligned with the pipe.

In stress analysis , all restraints due to various kind of pipe supports are represented by their direction of acting forces (eg : arrow in the direction of acting forces). Thus,

for a pipe resting on a 6" thk concrete wall, the point of resting is represented by one arrow pointing upward ( to show that the pipe is supported in that particular direction)
