  • Not if immunity to electromagnetic interference is not needed.
  • Not if immunity to the effects of earth-loop currents is not needed.
  • Not if protection from the effects of static electricity is not needed.
  • Not if operation of the circuit protective device(s) during a fault event is not needed.
  • Not if protection against electrocution is not needed.
  • Not if compliance with national electrical codes is not needed.
  • Not if it is a non-electrical instrument and the equipment is grounded elsewhere.
  • Not if there is no electrical connection to the plant.
  • Not if it is on some form of vehicle that is insulated from ground/earth potential.
  • Not if it is made of non-conducting materials.
  • Not if it is CE-marked as double-insulated.
  • Etc.

"Is it necessary to ground the instrument???"

Perhaps, perhaps not. There are many reasons for grounding and for not grounding things. It would help a whole lot if this one had a clue about what that one is doing.

It might also be beneficial if that one had a clue.

Have FUN!
