PVC-Free (Non-PVC) material in Medical using

05/22/2007 12:00 AM

Dear All,

Could anyone know PVC-Free (Non-PVC) material in Medical using? We are a disposable medical supplier (ex:IV Set), now we are just found TOTM plasticizer, but is only classified Non-DEHP. If we using TPU or PE to manufacture(injection) medical component, it will hard to adherence between one part to another. Could everyone know which adhesive could have good adherence for PE or TPU material component?

Hope I made my words clearly.

Best Regards,

Jack

My best recommendation is to talk to Cardiotech International Inc., Wilmington, MA, USA. 978-657-0075. They make a number of products, both hydrophobic and hydrophilic, both aromatic PUs and aliphatic PUs. Most of the TPUs and liquid polyurethane-co-polyurea products are high MW, based on Melt Index numbers, or viscosity for the liquid polymers. They make high MW PTMEG- based and PTMEG-co-PEG based liquid PU polymers for medical and cosmetic applications. The TPUs especially are all polycarbonate soft segment, both aliphatic and aromatic, PUs, for superior bio-stability as catheters and long term implants. The TPUs can be extruded into tubing of most diameters, and are used in many large medical companies, hospitals, clinics, etc. For example, the lines of aromatic and aliphatic TPUs run from about 80 A to 75 D durometer.
