Low Cost iron Analysis

11/08/2012 10:32 AM

Can anyone suggest fast, accurate and cost effective chemical analysis methods for elements in iron and steel.Fast is spectro analysis but equipment cost very high.Cost effective is usual volumetric and gravimetric method but it takes longer time.

Then it is an economic calculation on the basis of the value of the time delay.

i'm not sure if it applies to your situation, but scrap yards use an electrical hand held device to determine the alloy content of different metals.

X Ray spectrometers are being used as scrap sorters and they are very expensive. If you have come across something else and cost effective please let me know.

Thanks.

You need not invest in a spectrometer. Out-source analysis part to a test laboratory.

Reliability and quickness are general casualities especially in wet lab analysis reports.

For regular updates perhaps in house lab is the answer.

Thanks
