Neutral Doubts

11/27/2012 12:24 PM

i have a Power transformer rated as 3.15 MVA , 34.5KV/480V,Dy11.

What is the minimum number of neutral grounding points on LV side?

if minimum Number of neutral grounding points are 2, what should be the minimum distance between them?

What is the recommended earth resistance value for this transformer?

Can the neutral grounding point be connected to Plant Ground mat?

Please help me

Thanks and regards

Where's the documentation on the transformer?

Everything you want to know will be in the documantation.

If you don't have it, get it from the transformer manufacturer.

What do your electrical standards and regulations say?

What does your site or customer specification say?

The first will dictate what you should be doing with the second possibly overriding the first (for example customer request to increase the number or size of neutral grounding points for an increased safety margin).

<...What is the minimum number of neutral grounding points on LV side?...>

The minimum number of neutral grounding points is 1. If it were less, the neutral wouldn't be grounded and so one would have an IT system.

<...Can the neutral grounding point be connected to Plant Ground mat?...>

Yes, if the local electrical code for this installation allows IT systems.
