150 Class Valve With BW End

11/27/2012 9:06 PM

It is always preferable from our customer to use butt weld valve due to vacuum service in our line for the size ranges of 80 NB(3") and above. I also finding 150 class BW end valves in almost all companies valve catalogue, however many of the suppliers says 150 class bw end is not available, bw end is only available for higher pressure rating.- Is it really a standard practice?

Elementary, friend. Supply/manufacture is demand oriented.

I believe you meant to say " I also finding 150 class FLG'D end valves in almost all companies valve catalogue..."

I believe the 150# (and 300#) flanged valves, exclusive of the flanges, can handle pressures far in excess of the 150# flange limitations. Therefore, when these valves are supplied flangeless they are rated much higher!
