Clarification: Home Brew Windmill System

11/28/2012 9:42 AM

My understanding of home brew windmill system as it referrs to the term cut in, is that cut in is what it takes to fill the coils and wires and bridge rectifiers and the resistance included to that point after that you are charging the batteries. Is that correct?

There isn't such a thing as "filling the coils...resistance." Instead, when the turbine spins fast enough to generate usable voltage (> existing), a switch "cuts it in" to feed the system.

The term "Cut In" is used to reference the wind velocity required for the wind turbine to begin generating any useable electricity.
