Variac Dial Transfer/Image

11/29/2012 3:56 AM

Hi All,

I have a 0-260V (270V) variac, but it does not have a dial plate. Does anyone know where I can get a good image of a dial plate so as I can scale it to the size I require and then print it off on acetate to produce my own dial plate?

Thanks in advance.

Through how many degrees does you variac's dial turn? Measure if you are uncertain. This will effect the proper dial plate indication.

So, printing out a dial that equates to roughly an angle of 1.27 degrees for each volt will work.

Use a graphing program like 'Graph' or 'Google Sketchup'

both are free.

Didn't you read his post? He needs a 0-260, not 0-130. Can you change the #'s for him? (Sorry, couldn't resist - should have figured you'd have one.

If you can't use Lyn's image, I could draw one in CAD in 10 or 15 minutes. It would be best to email it to avoid losing detail. Let me know if you want me to. Also let me know the OD of the markings. Could be black on white or white on black...
