11/30/2012 10:53 AM

Gauss-Seidel method is used for solving linear equations. How it is used for solving of non linear equations in powersystem load flow analysis ?

The same way, why do you believe it is different?

"...There are many computational methods that can be used to solve nonlinear systems, two of which we already discussed for linear systems. These are the Jacobi Method and the Gauss-Seidel method, which both rely on fixed-point iteration..."

From: http://cam.mathlab.stthomas.edu/pdf/csums/IntroNonlinearSystems.pdf

The interviewers are getting more clever.

So are students. This poster is obviously a student.

All 9 of their posts begin with "why". OK, that's not accurate. One actually begins with what and two others sound like word problems from the text book.

I agree, and it seems like they never want to search for the answer on their own. If I were teaching my Power Engineering courses now I would make sure that none of the homework I assigned could be found in the textbook. I liked your link, thanks.
