Busbar Ampicity Rating

12/04/2012 7:48 AM

We normally consider copper busbar area equal to its ampicity. is it right?

if not what is the actual procedure to calculate the busbar ampere rating?

Fortunately, apart from cable sizing and breaking cast iron baths, busbar sizing is one of CR4's most popular topics.

Perhaps we should start a lost souls and helpless people section. We could post these inane questions that are asked over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and list the answers there.

That's an idea for each phase and a fourth one for the neutral...

...and that would be different from the current set up, how exactly?

.

At any rate, no matter how hard you try, occasionally someone will sneak in an post a well thought out, interesting question for which an answer is not immediately available via Google, and temporarily collapse the bubble of inanity. It is inevitable.

"My Chevy Cavalier Won't Go[1]" has got to be up there with 'em.

[1] For "Go" read Start/Stop/Lock/Unlock/Shift Out Of/Into Drive etc. etc.

Perhaps it has the wrong size busbars, then.

Chevy Cavalier probably is the king of all threads. Sooner, or later, every part on the vehicle will fail and all the answers will reveal themselves.

Unfortunately, that will probably coincide with the catastrophic failure of the last Cavalier on the planet.

What will archiologists make of that in the future?

It seems there is more than one fault, though...

Still seems to me that the most common dumb question line, here in the EE forum anyway, is the "Why are voltages in factors (multiples) of 11?" questions in all of it's variants.
