There is absolutely no such thing as a unique, irreplaceable thyristor. But, then again knowing what you really need definitely helps with replacement.
And that even depends on the circuit you are using it in.
A good place to start if you don't have the experience to select a Thyristor based on what you need it to do in the circuit is to find the data sheet for the old Thyristor and then use this information to chose a similar replacement Thyristor from the Thyristors available from a local wholesaler or supplier.
If you get really desperate you may be able to buy them from an off-shore trading house that holds stock of obsolete electronic parts (although this will likely be expensive).
For example, a Teccor / Littlefuse SK040R can handle 1kV and 40A and has Igt 40mA max, and comes in an easy-to-use TO-220 package. It costs $3.95 at DigiKey and Mouser.
Be careful with those power-line voltages. One hand behind your back whenever taking measurements on a live circuit.

Well, I don't know what a "true home electric power saver" is, but if you email me or post the schematic you have, I'd be glad to look it over and see if I can update it for you. Maybe we can figure out what your power saver does by looking at the drawing. But it's likely that we'll be disappointed.

I wondered what all the motor circuitry was for in the original design, apparently just to cool the Thyristors.
All that generated heat and associated cooling AND still able to save 30% energy savings. We Engineers don't get enough credit for what we know and what we really do.
