Thyristor Test

How can i test a thyristor of one firing gate for fault, say thyristor used in DCS 800 mill DC drive to control a DC motor of 300kw

Usually the equipment mfr will provide you with test values. But in GENERAL, remove the gate leads and check the resistance across the gate circuits, it's best to do it with the leads still attached to the SCR (if applicable). It should read between 5 and 90 ohms, less than 5 or greater than 90 and it's no good.
