Around Welding Symbol

12/13/2012 5:46 AM

Dear,

The welding symbol has 2 lines: identification and reference line.

Do we omit the reference line in the around welding symbol (perimeter seam)? In this case, it seems the reference line is not necessary when we weld all around.

Are there any document state about this thing?

Thanks all!

The above depiction is from the American Welding Society (AWS) and the AISC, so whatever convention is used in your country is what you will have to follow.......

All around welding symbol is a supplementary welding symbol. The dotted reference line is to support basic welding symbol such as fillet weld or groove weld. A weld around symbol by specifying only circle at the intersection of arrow line and reference line doesn't make any sense unless basic weld symbol is placed to complete the welding symbol. Its mandatory in a ISO 2553 welding symbol to specify the dotted line with system A.

I Hope it makes sense.
