What type of alignment and resolution do you need? Any pertinent information you provide us will allow us to help you with the instrumentation. A few possible measurements that comes to my electrical engineering mind about a cement kiln are:

  • Temperature uniformity
  • Bearing spatial alignment
  • Flame spatial alignment
  • Sample measurement processes

Your best bet for answering your question though is to consult with the firm that installed the kiln. If you do not understand what they tell you then we at CR4 will gladly explain what they tell you and possibly give you alternatives.

Hire an outside expert to perform the task this time, and watch them and take photographs and notes as to what they do and the equipment they use.

Then, you'll have a properly installed tube as well as a rough idea of how to do it and the equipment required.

Please read carefully this link:

http://www.tappi.org/Downloads/Conference-Papers/2008/08EPE/08epe81.aspx

Not as a manual of how to do it, but only to have a general idea of the main points to consider before get into something too big (and expensive) to allow chances to fail.

This pic is a hint. You should know what I am referring to.

I strongly endorse Lyn´s advice this time.

hi,

I am currently working in cement plant in the philippines, and we will perform kiln alignment in our own kiln.. I suggest that you will do kiln run out test to check the kiln's ovality and light beam kiln centerline alignment method,,,

these two methods do the tricks in alignment our kiln...

my dear

generally i check the ovality by migration measuring, but to perform light beam test the kiln shell should be without bricks isn't it, and doing it only at new errection ,but our kiln old one . if i have missunderstanding, please kindly inform me

best wishes

hi,

you can use light beam alignment even if your kiln is old, infact our kiln is already 40 years old, and every time it bent, we will correct it and align it by means of light beam alignment..

i will send you the diagram on how to use this method
