It seems to me that you are looking for a trommel in isolation of the entire system. Surely the initial ball mill sizing exercise was based on your process parameters. If you have those details and have provided them to the various bidders, one would think that if they are competent, they would all come back with something quite similar. This obvioulsy isn't the case. Your concern is justified. However, trying to verify the design of a critical component such as this in-house is akin to saying that you're going to design a pressure vessel if only somebody would give you the proper formulas
Your current results clearly indicate that you should engage the help of an expert rather than continuing to fly by the seat of your pants. At least then you'll have a better idea of what is happening and what is required.
Our focus is ensuring that the liner and structural bolts don't fail on large mills so, we can't help you with the design. However, if you provide some process details, maybe we can stear you in the right direction.
I must apologize: this clearly isn't a "seat of the pants" exercise on your part. I can also now see the root of your concern; it's very unusual indeed when each bidder comes back with a design significantly different than the others when given such clear specs. Have you submitted your RFQ to the OEMs directly? I would be wary of receiving custom-designed process equipment from a low-cost Pirate manufacturer. These parties may be relatively capable fabricators of copies or developers of new equipment based on first-generation technology but personally I wouldn't trust their current-technology design capabilities. On the other hand, I'd be quite comfortable with established OEMs. Have you contacted, for example, FLS? They have a major comminution design centre as well as manufacturing capabilities relatively nearby in India. If you haven't already, I strongly urge you to speak with them.
I cannot promise anything but I will also pass this information along to see what becomes of it.
