I noticed that my UPS software allows a modifiable amount of time of operation after a power failure. Even though one tells me I have a half hour of capacity it will shut my system down after a maximum programmed 8 minutes. Soooo.. if I was to connect a bank of truck batteries to it the programming would have to be defeated to provide continous operation. Sooo if you just get a standard continous duty battery powered invertor and a bank of batteries that can be charged by a car or generator or solar panels or a gang of boys with hand cranked generators you would be in happy time.
