How To Scale Solar Adsorption-Desorption Cycle To Residential Use

01/02/2013 8:04 AM

Am seeking information for creating a diy solar adsorption-desorption cycle unit equal to a three ton residential air conditioner. Have only found diy refrigerator information or 100 ton steam powered commercial units. My concerns are sizes of the containers for zeolite and water because of the physical location on my lot within zoning restrictions of the city. Anticipate using multiple tanks to have more than one 24 hour cycle to get past unusual cloud cover and hurricanes in Florida,USA. Other zoning size constraint will dictate use of Frenel lens or solar trough heater. Because of tree shade and the solar track we have five hours of useable solar exposure in the winter, in the summer we have eight to ten hours.

whats the big goal here? saving money? pride doing yourself? why not go through all that hassle and just buy a high SEER unit and spend the savings adding to your attic insulation?
