Gas Insulated High Voltage Equipments

01/08/2013 9:37 AM

Daer All,

I am generally working on Low-Voltage systems. But today, I got a project for High voltage systems. I have no idea about:

1) GAS INSULATED DISCONNECTORS,

2) GAS INSULATED CIRCUIT BREAKERS and

3) GAS INSULATED SWITCHGEARS

Could anyone inform me about their technical properties, how do they work and what is the main differences between them? Is this gas generally SF6?

I'd start here: Switchgear - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Then, after I could converse intelligently about the basics, I'd contact potential suppliers and ask them to enlighten you.

firstly what means by switchgear ?

it is a general word used to discribe circuit breakers disconnectors earth switch current transformer and voltage transformer

gas insulated switchgear (GIS ) means that all this component included and isolated using gas

the gas used is sulpher hexafluride SF6

disconnectors used only to isolate the voltage on circuit breaker for maintanace becouse HV breakers can not rack out or in (not the load )

Circuit breaker connect and disconnect the load becouse it contain achamper to damp the generated arc

sf6 is about 5 times air in ability of isolation so sf6 breaker compact THAN AIR

I have no idea about:

1) GAS INSULATED DISCONNECTORS,

2) GAS INSULATED CIRCUIT BREAKERS and

3) GAS INSULATED SWITCHGEARS

Then for sake of safety, you probably should pass this project on to someone that does know about high voltage systems. Hire someone.
