Request for an ESD User Group

05/25/2007 10:27 AM

I would love to see a User Group designated to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) installations, and maintenance. I think it would fit into a Safety category nicely. It definitely influences the safety of sensitive equipment. And due to the fact that personnel wear wrist straps, and electricity is involved, safe installation practices are desired.

Editor's note:
We added the group, so you can now sign up for the ESD User Group.

Hi

I just added ESD to the new "Safety" User Group.

I also added a link to the ESD User Group Signup page to your original post. It's open to anyone interested in or involved with negating electrostatic discharge (ESD) in manufacturing, design, safety, testing and compliance.

Thanks,
- Chris

Here is a list of all our user groups.

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)Control is very vital requirement for Ammunition and Explosive manufacturing and filling factories and their storage buildings .This forms a mandatory safety requirement for such installations . Static electricity generated by movement of tools and components ,rubbing of clothing ,shoes with human body , movements in the working area are one of the major cause of explosions in these factories. ESD will damage electronic components while manufacturing ,servicing and operating ,if proper electrostatic discharge is not effected. Use of Conductive flooring, clothing ,shoes and proper independent static earthing systems are essential for safety reasons. ESD is a subject which does not get proper attention even though it cause loss and damage .Adequate training should be given to personnel working these areas. Regular workshops should be organised to managerial staff to make them aware about ESD control.
